Dancing at Kellermans

Secret Cinema creates world-class productions in unusual spaces, transforming buildings and parks into spectacular venues. These spaces are usually in areas with a limited cultural provision, lacking creative infrastructure and other resources.

Secret Cinema is developing new ways of opening up its spaces to local communities, with a particular focus on empowering young people.

We are always on the lookout for progressive initiatives in local communities. To see how we could work together or to get more information on our previous community work please drop us a line.

Community Engagement

Working with community groups gives opportunities for a range of people to access and experience our sets and interact with live events experts.

Schools Engagement

Workshops and Masterclasses offer local schools the opportunity to explore our sets and meet experts in the creative industry. We partner with a range of institutions to deliver exciting and educational experiences, and inform and inspire young people in their careers paths.

Training Programmes

Training programmes provide a pathway to employment within the creative industries. Participants receive one-on-one mentorship, learn about a complex and busy work environment and have an opportunity to graduate to full paid employment.

Special Events

Residents from the local borough gain special access to Secret Cinema productions through free preview and discounted main show tickets. Free, specially adapted productions are also staged for younger audiences.

Creative Programmes

Providing young people (aged 14-25) with the guidance and resources to create and deliver their own creative projects,  Secret Cinema has delivered 3-week filmmaking programmes on its production stages and is developing programmes for other art forms.

Charity

Partnering with charities delivering grassroots projects in the area, we put their cause at the heart of the production. The charities selected seek to address any issues or themes resonating with the main production, making it relatable to the audience, while inviting them to donate.

Impact Study

Secret Cinema productions bring far-reaching economic, social and cultural benefits to the surrounding area. This recent independent study by Bop Consulting explores the impact of a 1 year Secret Cinema residency at The Printworks building in Canada Water.

Testimonials

“What Secret Cinema, YOU and everyone involved created at Canning Town over the last few months has been priceless. You gave them an insight into another world, a creative one that could open doors for them in the future, that they would never have believed had they not experienced it. For that alone, it truly was great!”

Jane, Curriculum Adviser

“I saw all the stuff, had done all the research but nothing prepares you for the world. It’s incredible...it’s ridiculous, it’s breathtaking, it’s wonderful. It feels like one massive family, like you’re part of a team. It feels like a community. It’s really cool.”

Cameron, Local Employment
